From private jets to pints in the Rovers Return – the weird and wonderful world of journalism (part one)

At Bloomin’ Creative, we’re immensely proud of our journalism roots. We look at every aspect of our PR campaigns with a journalist’s head on our shoulders. We believe this is the key to success in the press for our clients. Whether it’s B2B or B2C public relations, with coverage in local press, editorials in trade titles, guest posts on target blogs or product placement in national magazines and newspapers. Whatever the end goals is, looking at everything from a journalist’s perspective is our USP here at Bloomin’ Creative and something we pride ourselves on.

Our copywriter, Colette, cut her teeth as  journalist for one of the country’s biggest regional newspaper groups, before moving into corporate PR and communications, working with brands such as IPC Magazines, Gower Publishing, Sun Life of Canada, McVities, KP Snacks and the Health and Safety Executive.

Journalism and PR go together hand in hand and we’ve both experienced some weird and wonderful situations throughout our careers as journalists. Here, Bloomin’ Creative copywriter Colette talks us through her highlights as a hack.

Client News: Real Housewives of Cheshire star Leanne Brown announced as patron of Tigerlily Trust

The Tigerlily Trust charity has announced its new patron – Real Housewives of Cheshire star, Leanne Brown.

Leanne, who hails from Barrow, will now act as ambassador for the charity in its work supporting bereaved parents who suffer the loss of their baby or child at any stage during pregnancy, following birth or later on in childhood.

Leanne’s personal experience of tragically losing three babies, combined with two close family member’s own losses, led to her involvement with the charity.

You’d be barking mad not to admire this local firm’s fascinating story

There was something that stuck with me for a while after I visited the Barking Mad headquarters recently.

It was a framed piece of paper, with the soft outlines of very faint scribbles. Those pencilled scribbles were in fact the very start of Barking Mad, and they’re proudly displayed in the boardroom in a frame that states “Out of small seeds…”

As the owner of a young business (we recently celebrated Bloomin’ Creative’s first anniversary as a PR agency set-up), this was particularly poignant because Barking Mad’s story of success and growth is one I’ve admired from afar as a fellow Kirkby Lonsdale business.

Interview: Founder of Bloomin’ Creative Chats to ICS for National Freelancers Day

To mark National Freelancers Day, our founder, Danielle Owen-Jones, chatted to specialist contractor accountancy firm ICS about her freelancing journey.

It was quite exciting for Bloomin’ Creative, as it was the first interview since our new agency set-up and it also coincided with the launch of our new website (take a peek if you haven’t already!)

The eighth National Freelancers Day was held on 9th June this year. NFD is a day that celebrates the UK’s most exciting, driven and enterprising self-employed people – so to say that we were flattered when ICS chose to interview us on that day would be quite the understatement!
